Bella in her halter and bridle.

On the lunge line.

My heart bursts with pride at how hard she is trying for me.

She is so sweet! What color do you call her? I'm still learning all the variations.

She's a beautiful horse.

My wife and I were talking about horses yesterday on our hike and she really, really wants to ride one as she's never been on a horse.

She rode a mule down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with her sister a couple years ago and she was scared s**tless the whole time:-)

Donna, I call her a grulla. She looked very much like a buckskin when she was born, but lightened and got grayer in her face each seasonal change. Now you can see those dapples on her side and her tail looks to me like a gray horsetail but with a tiny bit of color.
Thanks MiKael :) I'll work on it, I promise.
George, I humbly recommend a good lesson at a respected barn for a first try. It would be safe and likely build her enjoyment through confidence. I can't even imagine going down into the Grand Canyon on even a steady mule. I would be scared too.

Your pictures really do capture how hard she is trying! Wow! How do you lunge her and use the camera at the same time?

I have never been a lunger. Makes me dizzy. Now that I am older and wondering at the wisdom of getting on a young horse to ride through the extra energy, I guess I'll have to learn.

I look forward to seeing more of y'all's progress!
