We are going to be driving back north across the border in a few days and I don't have even one moment of doubt that we will be safe. It's really a shame that the drug problems have gotten so bad that people are worried about traveling down into Mexico. We see none of the trouble.

Maybe it is time to legalize marijuana.

I don't know about legalizing marijuana...lol! Maybe it would help, who knows, but then again, it would always be the coke druglords we have to worry about, etc.

I am glad you feel safe. I have to travel to Monterrey soon and am dreading it. My girlfriend was going to get married in Cancun in May and changed her location to Jamaica because of all the violence and rumors.

I love Mexico and hope to have a home there someday in near future...but all the way out in Cabo for me...as I am addicted.

Have a fun and safe trip my friend!

Blessings!

I wondered about all the stories the media was telling. I was in Playa in November, wasn't scared at all. I was enchanted, actually, and can't wait until I can go back.

I must be missing something. I've heard of one big pot bust, but that's it. We used to travel to Mexico on the Baja peninsula numerous times when I was a teen with my family. We always felt safe and enjoyed the trips. Beautiful beaches and friendly people, not to mention the good food and fun shopping. Why wouldn't it be safe, any less than anywhere else anyway??

I'm so glad you said this. This is a big argument in our household. I'm used to going down there, but my hubby refuses, says it's too dangerous. I've never had any *significant* problems, but I didn't think it was any worse than here in America. I think if you want trouble, you'll find it, but otherwise you'd be fine. Glad to hear you haven't had problems.
